    Description: 
    An abstract, welded steel sculpture representing the Olympic torch and the waves of the Panama City Beach surf. The support is in the shape of a long, slender four-sided pyramid. Attached to this is an accordion shape of eight sides --three strips on the right side and five strips on the left side. The top is made of five crescent shapes. The sculpture is primarily painted a yellow-gold color that gradually changes to red-orange as it approaches the top. Sky blue was added to cut-out swirls near the top. The swirls allow the light to pass through.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was created through the combined efforts of the Olympic Torch task force team and many community businesses that contributed time, materials, and money. The sculpture commemorates the passage of the Olympic torch relay through Bay County, Florida, and marks the beginning of a landscape beautification and design plan for Aaron Z. Bessant Park. Sculpture project participants included: Berg Pipe, fabrication and materials; Gulf Asphalt, foundation; Medhat Elmesky, landscape designer; and Mary Ann Swenk, concept and logistics. IAS files contain a transcription of the inscription plaque to be installed.
