    Description: 
    The N. W. Ayer Building, built for Philadelphia's largest advertising agency, is adorned with imagery both inside and out that conveys the goals and purposes of the advertising industry. Sculpture on the outside of the building includes spandrel reliefs, bronze doors, and eight massive carved figures around the upper floors of the building. The images include the human figure to symbolize the creative mind; an allegorical figure to represent Truth; an open book as the vehicle for advertising; and the winged bird to symbolize the widespread power of advertising.
