Inscription:  (On proper right hind hoof:) KISA BEECK 1942 (On front of base:) JOAQUIN MILLER/1841-1913/POET OF THE SIERRAS signed Description:  A statue of Joaquin Miller as a bearded man astride a standing horse. The equestrian statue sits atop a rectangular base. Restoration work was performed in 1968, including coating the statue with pigment and iron filings to produce a patina on its surface. In Merville A. Reed's Book titled "Historical Statues and Monuments in California", Miller wears a hat which is now missing.
