Incarnate Word College, Sisters of Charity of Incarnate Word, 4301 Broadway, Mother House grounds, near the San Antonio River, San Antonio, Texas 78209
Remarks:
All the houses of the college's community contributed to the creation of the grotto. The grotto was planned and partially executed by Reverend J. G. Bednarek. The statues of Mary and Bernadette were probably imported from Italy. The figure of Mary was donated by William C. Sullivan of San Antonio, in memory of his mother, Mrs. Daniel Sullivan. Volunteers from the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word helped build the grotto. IAS files contain related article from "A History of Incarnate Word College," 1944.
