Description:
Two figures of firefighters in center of fountain. One figure is kneeling on proper left knee and holding a fire hose at his proper left side. Second figure is standing with proper left arm extended in front of body. Both wear firefighting uniforms with helmets on their heads. Third firefighter figure stands in memorial terrace area. Figure holds hat under bent proper right arm. His proper left arm is at his side holding gloves. Eyes are lowered with mournful expression on face.

Remarks:
Sculpture cost $1.18 million, with funds raised through community fundraising campaign begun in 1988. Government funds provided for approximately 1/3 of the total cost. Names of 86 firefighters killed in the line of duty are inscribed on granite markers in memorial terrace area.
