    Description: 
    Four figures, each holding a book in his or her hand. They stand on a background of open books. The figures are slightly abstract. At the top of the sculpture is a male figure; below him and on his proper right is a female figure; below her and on her proper left is a young male figure; and below him and on his proper right is a young female figure.

    Remarks: 
    Cost: $6,970. SOS! survey indicates sculpture was cast 1959; however, copy of article from This Month in Your Library (Oct. 1960), indicates that the artist met with the Library's Board of Trustees in Sept. 1960, at which time he suggested his concept for the sculpture and the Board asked him to submit sketches for their consideration. Campen's "Outdoor Sculpture in Ohio" reports that the sculpture was completed in 1960.
    IAS files contain copy of unidentified newspaper clipping which reports the cost of the sculpture to be $6,970, and copies of articles from This Month in Your Library (Oct. 1960), which discusses the artist's suggestion for the sculpture; This Month in Your Library (Nov. 1962) and (Feb. 1963), both of which discuss the installation; and This Month in Your Library (Oct. 1982), which details the creation of the sculpture.
