In 1928, painting was temporarily lent to the Gradaute School of Business Administration, Harvard University. The 1936 Harvard Portraits catalogue says painting is signed, lower right: I. E. Barclay, 1899. 1989 report from Maine Historical Society lists artist as unknown.
