Originally installed for City centennial celebration. Nearby plaque: "Centennial Sculpture, 1881-1981. Presented to citizens of Spokane in celebration of Spokane's 100th anniversary by the Spokane Centennial Committee, William H. Cowles, 3rd, Chairman, Vicki S. McNeil, Vice-chairman, Harold Balazs, Sculptor." There are conflicting reports of execution date: City of Spokane reports execution date of 1979; plaque gives date of 1981; Museum publication lists date as 1983.
