    Description: 
    A portrait of Senator Hoar seated in his senatorial chair. With his proper left hand he grips the arm of his chair and with his proper right hand he holds a manuscript in his lap. Papers and books are strewn about the base of the chair. His jacket is hung over the left arm of the chair. At one time his face was adorned with a pair of glasses, but they are now missing. The sculpture rests atop a large square granite base in a granite plaza.
