Inscription:  (On bronze plaque on front of base:) GEORGE FRISBEE HOAR/BORN IN CONCORD AUGUST 29, 1826/DIED IN WORCESTER SEPTEMBER 30, 1904/LAWYER, SCHOLAR, ORATOR, STATESMAN/CITIZEN OF WORCESTER/FOR MORE THAN HALF A CENTURY/MEMBER OF THE MASSACHUSETTS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 1852/MEMBER OF THE MASSACHUSETTS SENATE 1857/CITY SOLICITOR OF WORCESTER 1860/MEMBER OF THE UNITED STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 1869-1877/SENATOR OF THE UNITED STATES 1877-1904 unsigned Description:  A portrait of Senator Hoar seated in his senatorial chair. With his proper left hand he grips the arm of his chair and with his proper right hand he holds a manuscript in his lap. Papers and books are strewn about the base of the chair. His jacket is hung over the left arm of the chair. At one time his face was adorned with a pair of glasses, but they are now missing. The sculpture rests atop a large square granite base in a granite plaza.
