    Remarks:
The marble bust replaces a bronze bust of Mayor Samuel McHose executed by George Thomas Brewster around 1926 and stolen in the 1970s (see IAS record PA001300). McHose was the first mayor of Allentown and served from 1867 to 1869. The new bust is mounted on the original pedestal. IAS files contain related excerpts from Myra Yellin Goldfarb's "Stepping Stones into the Past: Allentown's Outdoor Public Sculpture, 1900-1988," City of Allentown; and "Sculpture in the Park: From the Collection of Muriel and Philip Berman." IAS files contain article from The Morning Call (Allentown, PA), May 11, 1985.
