Description:
The memorial depicts marching Union soldier with an angel walking behind him, her proper right hand hovering protectively over the soldier's head. In her raised proper left hand, the angel carries a flag. The soldier is dressed in an overcoat with a small cape around his shoulders. In his proper right hand he carries a rifle over his shoulder. The figures are mounted atop a tall square base set in the middle of a semicircular plaza bordered by a granite exedra.
