An equestrian portrait of General Devens wearing a heavy coat over his Civil War uniform. With his proper right hand he holds his hat and his horse's reins. The sculpture is mounted on a large rectangular base.

Remarks:
The memorial was sponsored by Senator George Hoar in honor of General Charles Devens and those from Worcester County who died in the Civil War. The monument was funded by citizens of fifty-eight towns in the Worcester County. The cost of the granite work was $5,700.
