    Description: 
    Full-length figure of James J. Hill stands on an two-tiered octagonal base which stands in a low octagonal retaining pool. The figure wears an early 20th century suit and holds his hat in his proper left hand. He is bearded and balding. There is a twenty inch high iron fence along the top surface of the retaining pool which surrounds the fountain.

    Remarks: 
    James Jerome Hill (1838-1916) was the owner of the Great Northern Railroad. The artist is a yard master at the railroad. This fountain replaces another historical fountain which stood on the site until the early 20th century. Plaques which lists donors to the sculpture are installed all around the outer basin. Footlights illuminate the sculpture at night.
