    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was installed as the centerpiece of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Park beautification project. The project was spearheaded by various groups in the town of Jefferson and Marion County including the Historic Jefferson Foundation, the Jefferson Historic Society and Museum, the Jefferson Carnegie Library, the Marion County Chamber of Commerce, the Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club and the Ministerial Alliance. The park and sculpture were dedicated as part of Independence Day festivities on July 4, 1989. IAS files contain a related article from the Marshall News Messenger, June 18, 1989, pg. 1C.
