    Description: 
    Full-length portrait of Garrett Augustus Hobart. He wears a suit with topcoat. He has a moustache. His proper left arm is akimbo. He holds a gavel in his proper right hand. His proper right elbow rests on a pedestal which is draped with a flag. Three books are stacked at the base of the pedestal behind his proper left foot. The bronze sculpture stands on a granite base. The top of the base is decorated with a high-relief laurel motif.

    Remarks: 
    Hobart was Vice President of the United States under President McKinley. Hobart, a resident of Paterson, died in 1899 while in office. Cost of the sculpture was $15,000. IAS files contain copy of related article from the Paterson Independent News, Sept. 8, 1994.
