Remarks:
William Sooy Smith commanded the 1st Division of the Sixteenth Army Corps during the Vicksburg campaign. Erected by the federal government. The monument is on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures (LCS no. 03345). IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form. Bronze cost $555 and pedestal cost $181.66 paid by Federal Government.
