JOHN CAMPBELL, STEPHEN RECTOR, JOHATHAN/RIGGS, AND JOHN WEAVER, SURGEON JOHN STEWART/33 U.S. REGULARS AND 65 ILLINOIS RANGERS WHO ON/THIS SPOT VALIANTLY BATTLED FOR THEIR COUNTRY (East plaque:) IN MEMORY OF TEN U.S. REGULARS, FOUR ILLINOIS/RANGERS ONE WOMAN AND ONE CHILD KILLED JULY/10, 1814 IN A BATTLE BETWEEN U.S. SOLDIERS UNDER/LIEUT. JOHN CAMPBELL AND SAC AND FOX/INDIANS UNDER THEIR WAR CHIEF BLACK HAWK (North plaque:) ERECTED BY THE STATE OF ILLINOIS IN THE YEAR/1906 UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE MOLINE/CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF DAUGHTERS/OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION (Lower right on front plaque: monogram symbol A overV; between legs of far right figure: initials CA) unsigned Founder's mark appears.
    Description: 
    A granite shaft with four bronze plaques near the bottom. Front plaque commemorates the Battle of Campbell's Island during the War of 1812. Depicts two soldiers with rifles, and a woman comforting a wounded soldier in front. There is a boat with several other soldiers in the background and figures of Indian warriors across the river, emerging from the trees.
