Dimensions:  Head: 8 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 5 1/2 in.; Hands: 6 1/4 x 4 1/2 x 4 in. Inscription:  (On head:) This cast was made for J. J. Glessner a subscriber to the fund for the purchase and presentation to the United States Government of the original mask made in Chicago April 1860 by Leonard W. Volk from the living face of Abraham Lincoln. This cast was taken from the first replica of the original in New York City February 1886. (See IAS manual file for complete inscription.) signed Description:  "Casting of the life face and hands of Abraham Lincoln. In his hand he holds a piece of wood, a broom handle which he was whittling at the time the casting was made."
