Remarks:
Count
Casimir
Pulaski
(1749-1779) was a Polish nobleman who emigrated to America and became a general in the Revolutionary War. He died at the siege of Savannah.
Pulaski
County (Arkansas) is named after the general. The
bust
may be one of several authorized by or formerly in the collection of
Pulaski
Federal Savings and Loan Assocation. Around 1960, because of efforts led by Judge Arch Campbell, a civic group commissioned local artist S. S. Schnittmann to do a
Pulaski
bust
. The original
bust
was dedicated on April 27, 1961 at Federal Savings (later Savers Saving Association or Savers Savings and Loan). Federal Savings used the
bust
as its emblem, had exclusive rights to its use in Arkansas, and authorized several copies.
