Pastime Park, East Lake Road, Entrance of park, Geneva, New York 14456
    Provenance:
Formerly in the collection of Zobrist, Henry, Mr. & Mrs., 37 Elm Street, Geneva, New York
    Remarks:
The monument commemorates Fido, the beloved pug dog of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zobrist of Geneva, New York. The dog died on May 16, 1913 at the age of thirteen. Its design taken from a stock catalog, the sculpture was originally placed over Fido's grave in the garden of the Zobrist home, and later relocated to a pet cemetery at the intersection of Route 96A and East Lake Road. When the road was widened at the cemetery, the monument was relocated to its current site at the entrance of Pastime Park. In June of 1974 the sculpture was stolen. When it was returned in late August, the residents of Pastime Park added a concrete base for security. For a related article about Fido see the Geneva Daily Times, May 17, 1913. IAS files contain articles from The Geneva Times, May 17, 1963 and Sept. 23, 1974. For further reading see: Geneva Daily Times, May 17, 1913.
