    Remarks:
An original North Hollywood memorial to Earhart, erected in 1940, bore the bronze plaque which is on the front of the base of this sculpture. The original memorial was removed in 1945 due to traffic construction and the plaque was kept in storage by the Jaycees until it was reinstalled. The sculpture and base were a gift to the city of Los Angeles from local community organizations, including the Zonta Club and the North Hollywood Jaycees, who organized the sponsorship of the memorial. The sculpture was refurbished in 1988. IAS files contain copies of related correspondence, memoranda and committee minutes. IAS files contain copies of preliminary memorial sketch and site plan. IAS files contain copy of related excerpt from Tom Link's "Universal City North Hollywood a Centennial Portrait", pg. 87-88. IAS files contain copy of related article from Los Angeles Times, Jan. 12, 1971.
