Inscription:  unsigned Description:  A sleeping bear cub rests on its paws, with eyes shut. The granite sculpture is dark grey and glossy in coloring. Subject:  Animal -- Bear Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- California -- Los Angeles Sculpture Owner:  Administered by City of Los Angeles, Cultural Affairs Department, Public Art Division, 433 South Spring Street, 10th floor, Los Angeles, California 90013 Located Barnsdall Art Park, 4800 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California Remarks:  The sculpture was donated to the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery in 1964, by the wife of the late architect Reginald L. Johnson. The sculpture was originally placed in a pool at the entrance to the old municipal art gallery, and later moved to a site near the Junior Arts Center. The sculpture was stolen from Barnsdall Art Park grounds, but later returned and re-sited in a more secure location on the balcony of the municipal arts gallery.
