Description:
Civil War sentry stands atop a tall column set on multi-tiered base. The soldier is dressed in uniform, with coat and hat, and stands at ease holding a rifle barrel, which rests by his proper right foot.

Remarks:
In 1887, a deed to the G.A.R. authorized a soldier's monument to be erected. City minutes from Nov. 21, 1900 report that the monument had been erected at a cost of $2,300. IAS files contain information sheet giving history of Grandview Cemetery.
