    (Located on proper left back under boy's leg:) (copyright symbol) by Willard Paddock/sculp/Sept. 1, 1916/1917 Pat. Feb. 26, 1918. (Circling oval base of sculpture:) "Mark ye the hovr of light that slip away --- spin then thy hovr of sunshine while ye may."
    Description: 
    A sundial comprised of a boy seated cross-legged on oak leaks with proper right hand holding his head, studying a paper, with markings of the hours of day and months, spread between his knees. The boy's proper right hand originally held a marker that cast a shadow on the paper. The boy sits atop a seven-sided base, atop three stepped platform.
