    Description: 
    A triangular base supporting a columnar shaft with a heron set on top. The heron stands with its feet astride and its beak slightly open. The shaft has inscriptions carved which cap each side. Below the inscriptions are animal heads carved like gargoyles in the shape of a horse, a frog and a cat or dog-like animal, and basins for the original fountain. About half way up the shaft two light fixtures protrude on either side.

    Remarks: 
    Originally located in Hodgson Park, the work was moved to Oak Grove Cemetery, then to Slater Park, before being returned to its present and original location. The bird was replaced in 1991 by Sciocto Monuments.
