    Remarks:
The column came from the neoclassical Bank of Pennsylvania built in 1800 which was being torn down. Each of the 13 colonies were allowed to convert one of the columns into a Civil War memorial. The eagle was forged from a Civil War cannon donated by Congress. The memorial was constructed from plans drawn up by A. B. Mullett. For more information see: Wilmington Morning News, June 14, 1921.
