looking out over the battlefield where the Union army under his direction won one of its greatest battles. He holds a pair of binoculars in his proper right hand and his hat in his proper left hand. A sword hangs from the left side of his saddle.

The monument cost $37,500. IAS files contain an excerpt from Frederick W. Hawthorne's "Gettysburg: Stories of Men and Monuments," Association of Licensed Battlefield Guides, 1988, pg. 125. The monument is listed on the National Park Service, List of Classified Structures (referred to as MN 275a) and is referenced in the Gettysburg National Military Park Archives.
