Description:
Portrait of John Warwick Daniel depicted seated in a Senatorial chair, facing west. He wears an open greatcoat, vest, and tie, and his proper right foot extends partly over the sculpture's integral base. His proper left hand is on his knee, and his proper right arm rests on the arm of the chair and holds a curled document. Behind him on his proper left side, a crutch leans against the chair. The sculpture is mounted upon a tapered, multitiered base, with roundels surrounding the lower section.

Remarks:
John Warwick Daniel (1842-1910) was a Lynchburg native who was Major in the Army of Northern Virginia and a Senator from Virginia for twenty-four years. Monument was erected by the municipality and citizens of Lynchburg, and other admirers of Daniel. For related newspaper article see the Lynchburg News & Advance, Nov. 10, 1994.
