The sculpture, which was carved in Italy, was originally installed at the St. Frances Retreat Center sometime in the 1950's. The base the sculpture stands on was installed for the original sculpture at Immaculate Conception Church as part of the Marian year celebration in 1954. IAS files contain copies of related articles from the Portsmouth Herald, April 8, May 10, 11, and 30, 1994. IAS files contain copy of related April 7, 1994 Immaculate Conception church bulletin.
