    Description: 
    A figure of Our Lady of LaSalette depicted as she is assumed into heaven. She stands with her arms folded over her chest and wears a crown ornamented with roses, a crucifix around her neck, and roses at her feet. The sculpture is placed atop a base of fieldstone and cement.

    Remarks: 
    One of a grouping of three sculptures commemorates the Virgin Mary's apparition in 1846 at LaSalette, France to two children, Maximin Giraud and Melanie Calvat who were watching their cows in the French Alps. The sculpture depicts the third phase of the Virgin's apparition as she is assumed into heaven. Figures of Maximin (IAS record NH000291) and Melanie (IAS record NH000292) stand nearby. IAS files contain transcription of names that appear on plaque on base. IAS files contain related articles from the Manchester Union Leader, June 1, 1951; and The Canaan Reporter and Enfield Advocate (Canaan, New Hampshire), May 24, 1951, pg. 1; and May 7, 1953, pg. 1. IAS files contain a photocopy of "LaSalette Shrine, Enfield, N.H., Walking Tour Guide."
