    Description: 
    A stylized figure of a girl running with outstretched arms. Her proper right leg is elevated and behind her, while only the toes of her proper left foot are touching the ground as she leans forward. Both arms are extended above her head, and a bird with outstretched wings touches the palm of her proper right hand. The girl is wearing a short dress, and her hair is swept back from her head as if by the wind.

    Remarks: 
    Jennifer Carter Gray (May 26, 1971 - June 17, 1986) was struck and killed by a truck while riding her bicycle. Funds for the sculpture were raised by family, friends and community members. The sculpture is not meant to be a statue of Gray, but to catch her spirit and show exuberance, youthfulness and emphasize the positive. The bird is meant to be a symbol of free spirit. IAS files contain a related article from the Simsbury News (Simsbury, CT), Sept. 29, 1988, pg. 3. IAS files also contain copy of dedication program.
