Description:
Eight bas-relief panels depicting scenes of Sonoma County line the outside walls of a fountain. Scenes include a steam locomotive and railroad track; Charlie Brown and other Peanuts cartoon characters; buildings and churches of the city of Santa Rosa; the back view of a logging truck; a man filming an arm-wrestling match; cowboys branding cattle; a Mexican soldier; a biplane; a Spanish couple
dancing
; and pioneer figures. Panels on the west wall incorporate scenes of the sea and whales. The north wall incorporates scenes of the Redwoods, Fort Ross and hop kilns. The east side shows the Bennett Valley Grange and Luther Burbank with a shovel. The sandstone or fiberglass-reinforced concrete murals are mounted directly to the fountain's outside wall.

Title supplied by Inventory cataloger.
The sculpture was commissioned as a one percent for art project as part of the Santa Rosa Center Redevelopment Project. Cost of the sculpture was $100,000. The artist was assisted by school children from the Burbank Elementary school and other individuals from the community who shaped figures for the sculpture. SOS! survey reports the panels are made of sandstone; related newspaper article reports the panels are of fiberglass-reinforced concrete. IAS files contain copies of related artist's sketch; dedication ceremony program; and related article from The News Herald, Jan. 13, 1987.
