    Remarks:
The idea for the statue originated in 1894. Danish citizens funded the sculpture and local resident Alling was hired to create the work. In 1896, Scandanavian residents donated it to the city. In 1983, the Lodge of No. 46 of the Danish Brotherhood in American hired the National Metal & Marble Maintenance Company, Inc. to restore the statue on the occasion of the City's 300th anniversary. Subsequent repairs were also made in 1985. IAS files contain related newsclippings The Evening News (Perth Amboy, NJ) June 22, 1959; and The News Tribune, June 3, 1983; Oct. 15, 1985; and Oct. 30, 1985.
