    Remarks:
The monument commemorates President Theodore Roosevelt. The land for Roosevelt Park was given to the City of Benton Harbor in 1922 by Mr. and Mr. J. N. Klock. The Klocks gave $25,000 for the clearing and landscaping of the property and the erection of the monument. Additional funding towards the cost of the sculpture was raised by the Women's Federation of Benton Harbor. The 1993 SOS! survey reports that the sculpture had recently been painted. IAS files contain an excerpt from J. S. Morton's "Reminiscences of the Lower St. Joseph River Valley," Benton Harbor, MI, 1929, pg. 104, published under the auspices of The Federation of Women's Clubs.
