Born on Feb. 7, 1818 in Woodside, Scotland. Moved to Wooster in 1848. Founded McDonald Machine Company.

Angus McDonald (1818-1894) was born in 1818 in Aberdeen, Scotland. In his youth he learned the foundry trade and with his wife and one child came to America in 1840 and settled in Massillon, Ohio where he was employed for seven years. He and the family moved to Wooster in 1847 where he founded the McDonald & Co. Agricultural Works which manufactured mowers, reapers, and threshers sold across America. It was the largest employer in Wooster and drove the growth of the City. Angus McDonald amassed a colossal fortune but lost it all during the Panic of 1873 when the McDonald & Co. Agricultural Works failed and was shut down while creditors took everything. He died after suffering a stroke in 1894.
