    Description: 
    A standing portrait of Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson with his proper right hand on his hip and his proper left hand holding a sword. The tip of the sword rest atop a pile of three blocks. He is dressed in his military uniform and his coat is draped over his proper left arm. The sculpture rests atop a tall granite base in the center of a circular plaza that is surrounded by a low post-and-chain fence.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was a gift of English admirers and is modeled after the phrase "Look! There is Jackson standing like a stonewall," made by General Robert E. Lee at the Battle of Manassas. The sculpture cost $10,000. IAS files contain an excerpt from Odell R. Byrd, Jr.'s "Richmond, Virginia, A City of Monuments and Statues," Richmond, VA: Tambuzi Publications, 1989, pg. 37-38; and a newspaper article from the Richmond News Leader, June 13, 1981, pg. 5.
