Garfield with a beard and moustache is installed on top of a tall shaft of polished black granite. Remarks:  The sculpture was commissioned and donated to the City of Danbury by Edward A. Housman, a local philanthropist, who installed the sculpture near his home on Deer Hill Avenue in a small park at the intersection of West Wooster and Division Streets. The sculpture was moved to its current site in 1931 when residents of the neighborhood petitioned for a new sidewalk. IAS files contain a newspaper article from The Danbury News-Times, Dec. 12, 1993, pg. 3 which includes a photograph taken in 1896 of the sculpture in its original site near Housman's home. Both the Housman home and the park are no longer extant.
