Inscription:  signed Description:  Standing figure of Bach on a small ledge attached to the east face of Weaver Chapel's 212 ft. tall tower. He holds a scroll up to his chest with his proper right hand. He is dressed in a knee-length coat over a long, buttoned jacket, breeches, and stockings. The figure of Bach is the bottom figure on the east, or library, side of the tower. O. Box 720, Weaver Chapel tower, Springfield, Ohio 45501 Remarks:  One of six figures installed on the exterior of Weaver Chapel's tower. The three figures on the west, or campus, side of the tower, St. Paul, St. Augustine, and Martin Luther, represent the spiritual heritage of the church. The three figures on the east, or library, side of the tower, John Milton, Gottfried Leibnitz, and Johann Sebastian Bach, represent the cultural heritage of the church. Weaver Chapel was designed by Dr. T. Norman Mansell. The six figures on the tower were begun by A. Regis Milione and after his death in 1955, were completed by his son Louis G. Milione. The SOS! survey notes that the figures were dedicated in 1957, but IAS files contain a photocopy of a brochure on Martin Luther sculptures which notes that the Weaver Chapel figures were dedicated in 1956. IAS files also contain a Weaver Chapel brochure which includes images of the figures on the campus side of the tower, St. Paul, St. Augustine, and Martin Luther. On the lower portion of the tower, below the figure of Martin Luther, there is a round window with a relief of a cross sculpted by A. Regis Milione. References:  Bankson, Benjamin, 1988.
