Remarks:
Gift of the Danish-American Women's Association. The cost of the memorial was 75,000 dollars which was contributed by Danish and American school children to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Anderson's birth. The Ugly Duckling was stolen in August 1973, but the Parks Department later found the 60 pound bird in a paper bag in a Queens lot.
