Jeffers family to the University. The sculpture was cast at the University under the direction of Paul Kubic and then Herk Van Tongeren and Associates. University students Mark Heffelfinger, John Wofford, and Bill Keen were among those who assisted in the foundry work. The sculpture was first sited on campus at the "old" Weatherspoon Art Gallery at the McIver Building. It was relocated around 1989. IAS files contain transcription of dedication ceremony remarks by Bert Carpenter; and newsclipings discussing the casting and dedication of the sculpture. Mr. Edwin Jeffress was one of the original owners/founders of the Greensboro Daily News and The Greensboro Record, and later served as publisher.
