    Description: 
    Youthful standing figure of Robert Burns. Figure has coat draped over proper left arm, scythe resting in crook of proper left arm, and his proper left hand is on his proper left hip. Sheaves of wheat are behind figure. Figure holds book in proper right hand, resting on proper right thigh. He stands with his proper left leg forward.

    Remarks: 
    Gift of the Burns Society of St. Louis, 1928. The dedication of the sculpture was held on the occasion of Robert Burns' 170th birthday, June 2, 1928. The sculpture was not accessioned until February 1972. IAS files contain articles from Student Life (St. Louis, MO), Oct. 1, 1982, and The Washingtonian (St. Louis, MO) (May-June 1928) which discuss the commissioning and dedication of the sculpture.
