    Description: 
    Three running figures are leaning forward as they run. The leading figure has his arms bent at the elbow and extended in front of him. His proper right leg is raised behind him and touches the proper right leg of the middle figure whose leg is extended forward. The middle runner has his proper left leg raised and extended behind him. The proper right arm of the middle figure is attached to the proper left hand of the third and last figure. The third figure is the tallest of the three and is standing on his proper left leg while his proper right leg is raised and extended behind him. The

    Remarks: 
    The artist, Melita Brecher was selected to design the sculpture after a two year search by members of the Field House Sculpture Advisory Committee, appointed by President A. LeRoy Greason. Funds for the $25,000 sculpture were raised by a group of alumni, students, coaches and friends, who ran in a "Run One for Bowdoin" challenge race in the 1986 Boston Marathon. The sculpture is covered with a patina. IAS files contain related article from Sundial (Brunswick, ME: Bowdoin College), vol. 1, no. 6, 1989/90.
