The sculpture is mounted in a canopied niche above main entrance. Also above the main entrance facade are two bas-relief portraits in profile. High relief sculptures of 12 male athletes are located in niches on the north and south sides of the building (six on each side). The athletes depicted are: a relay racer (holding a baton in proper right hand), a lacrosse player, a football player (cradling a football in his proper right arm); a hockey player (holding top of hockey stick at chest); a fencer (with saber); a basketball player seen in profile. a baseball player (with bat over proper right shoulder); a discus thrower (also seen in profile); a wrestler, a tennis player with racquet and ball, a swimmer in a diving position, and a golfer gripping a club. At the feet of each of the athletes is a symbol for a saint.
