Remarks:
Bird began creating his "critters" in 1983, after his hay baler malfunctioned and produced misshapen bales. Controversy arose in 1993 with the State Highway Department's proposal to widen the road, threatening the art works. IAS files include related articles from the Democrat-Reporter, July 1, 1993 and the Montgomery Advertiser, July 11, 1993.
