Description:
A full-length standing figure of athlete Mildred "Babe" Zaharias, depicted swinging a golf club. Her arms are raised to her proper left holding a golf club (now missing). Her legs somewhat twisted with her proper left heel raised. She wears a cap, jacket, and calf-length, pleated skirt. The sculpture has a rectangular base and is mounted upon a short, circular, polished granite base with paneled sides.

Remarks:
"Babe" Zaharias (1912-1956), born Mildred Ella Didrickson in Port Arthur, Texas, is considered one of the greatest all-round female athletes of the first half of the 20th Century. IAS files contain: transcription of a plaque behind the sculpture; related excerpt with biographical information on Zaharias from a Sea World brochure.
