Inscription:  Geo. Brewster Gorham Co. Founders (On lower section of relief plaque, raised:) LOUISIANA/MADISON ROGERS/LIEUT. COL. 17TH INFANTRY/KILLED IN BATTLE MAY 20 1863 signed Founder's mark appears. Description:  A bust-length relief portrait of Lieutenant Colonel Madison Rogers in military uniform. The portrait is above an inscription, and a decorated border surrounds the relief plaque and separates the inscription from the portrait. The relief plaque is attached to the upper section of a two-section base, set upon a foundation.
