A bust-length relief portrait of
Lieutenant
Colonel
S. H. Griffin in a
military
uniform, wearing a mustache and beard. The portrait is above an inscription, and a decorated border surrounds the relief plaque and separates the inscription from the portrait. The relief plaque is attached to the upper section of a two-sectioned base, set upon a foundation.

S. H. Griffin, who was killed in battle on June 27, 1863. Erected by the State of Louisiana. The monument is on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures (LCS no. 03383). IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form. Bronze cost $279 paid by state of Lousiana.
