    Description: 
    Four granite steles, commemorating each branch of the United States military, flank a central granite obelisk topped by a bronze eagle with outspread wings. Each flanking stele has a circular bronze relief medallion of a military branch's seal and name on the front. The medallions are, from left to right: Marine, Navy, Army, Air Force. The entire installation is mounted on a low, curved slab. In front of the memorial is a curved walkway with benches. The memorial is lit.

    Remarks: 
    The memorial cost approximately $12,000. It honors veterans of all wars and service men and women. The project was spearheaded by White County resident Jane Tooley and funded through donations from the local community. Robert Owen designed the eagle sculpture. IAS files contain a related article from The Telegraph, July 8, 1992; two related letters; artist sketches for the sculpture; and a dedication brochure.
