    Description: 
    Five clay relief panels depicting scenes from Louisiana's history. Panel one depicts scenes from the French colonial period, including images of the Catholic Church and Indian tribes, Fort St. John Baptiste, and LaSalle, Bienville, Iberville, DeSoto, and Tonti. Panel two depicts major events of the Spanish colonial period, including Governor O'Reilly holding a proclamation of amnesty, and depictions of a Spanish execution squad, John Law, the Cabildo, iron workers, the Spanish flag, Evangeline and the Oak, and the trading of enslaved individuals. Panel three depicts events associated with the Louisiana Purchase, including a map resting on a scale, American and French National flags, and figures Robert Livingston, Thomas Jefferson, Napoleon, William C. C. Claiborne, and Andrew Jackson.
    Panel four depicts scenes associated with Louisiana's secession from the Union, including an American eagle ripping apart an American flag, a pelican, the Old State Capitol, an antebellum mansion, a southern girl in a bell-shaped dress, Confederate soldiers, and Governor P.B.S. Pinchback. Panel five depicts contemporary Louisiana with Huey Long in the center, surrounded by scenes of a figure plowing, and the oil, sugarcane and seafood industries, the music and culinary heritage, Louisiana State University and Southern University, the New State Capitol and the Superdome. The panels are set into precast concrete frames on capitol facade.
