    Description: 
    A full-length figure of rancher Charles Goodnight, seen standing, holding a rifle slanted horizontally with both hands at waist level, the barrel pointed upward on his proper left. He wears western clothing, including a wide-brimmed hat, short jacket, and chaps, with a holstered gun on his proper right hip. The sculpture has a circular base and is mounted upon a short, circular, polished granite base with paneled sides.

    Charles Goodnight (1836-1929) was a Texas cattle rancher and trailblazer who established the JA Ranch and founded the Panhandle Stockmen's Association. IAS files contain: transcription of nearby plaque; related excerpt with biographical information on Goodnight from a Sea World brochure.
